World-Famous Nightlife Venue Hosts First-Ever Bored Ape Live Performance

When two Bored Apes descend on Boston to cross the border between the metaverse and the physical world promising “a new evolution,” you’d better heed that promise…or prepare to be left behind.

Such was the lesson delivered in spectacular fashion to an ecstatic, sold-out crowd at world-renowned Boston nightclub The Grand on Saturday night when ESCAPΞPLAN — a DJ/producer duo comprised of brother apes from the now legendary NFT-centered Bored Ape Yacht Club — performed a wild, reality-refracting set that delivered on that promise, and then some, marking the first-ever live performance by a Bored Ape act.

The multisensory performance featuring state-of-the-art production, animation, sound design, intelligent lighting, panoramic LED immersion, blasts of Co2, and a cadre of young women in jumpsuits emblazoned with images of brother apes ETHan (BAYC #4321) and zeETH (BAYC #309) was an auspicious debut for ESCAPΞPLAN, who were recently discovered on OpenSea by Big Night Talent. (Best of all, perhaps, the lasers which sometimes shoot out of zeETH’s eyes — contained by a now-trendy blindfold — scorched nothing save haters’ expectations.)

In addition to releasing new music and border-less performances in the metaverse and the physical world, the duo will also be part of community-based projects, activations, experiences, and more NFT releases.

It’s an ambitious slate for two apes from the snowy mountains of Sethan Village in India, a 15 hour flight north of the Himalayas and the famed peaks of Mount Everest, where most career paths begin and end with the tourism industry. But the unique approach to music the young apes developed in that isolation, combined with the backing of Big Night Talent and the Bored Ape Yacht Club Community — which counts Post Malone, Jimmy Fallon, and Steve Aoki among its members — has placed them on an enviable trajectory.

Could wider acclaim, mainstream success, and a union of the now-parallel worlds of the metaverse and our-verse be imminent?

Only time will tell. If the echoing roar and spellbound gaze of the awe-struck crowd at The Grand are any indication, however, the next evolution may be a hell of a lot closer than many suspect.
